Sleepless in Studio City DrDebzz Dishing on "Receiving is Giving" feat. Joan Baez

DrDebzz Opening Shpiel: Ask and you shall receive. Seek and ye shall find. Build it and they will come. Receiving can be painful and scary. However, if you take that leap of faith, angels in human form will appear to carry you when the going gets rough.
You don’t have to wait until you're experiencing a death or divorce. There doesn’t have to be a natural disaster or catastophe before you solicit help from a friend relative or neighbor. Consider asking for a hug when you're sad or scared, an ear to listen to you when you're lonely.
The greatest gift you can bequeath someone you care about is to request their assistance, albeit physically, emotionally, or spiritually. If you want to make a loved one feel special and honored, admit you need them!
It’s not the survival of the fittest that counts, but rather, the survival of all of us. You may not be able to save the planet from disintegration caused by hate and separation, but you can create world peace and oneness in your own backyard.
Instead of drinking the poison and expecting the other person to die, contemplate drinking love potion #9 and spreading love wherever you go. Those with the most wrath and ire, i.e. bullies abusers controllers narcissists manipulators, crave the most affection, since they exude extreme self loathing.
Although reaching them up close and personal isn't in the cards, you can embrace them from a distance. Wish them joy, wish them peace, wish them happiness, and above all wish them freedom from suffering.
Write in Question from Rhonda in New Jersey: My boyfriend is boring goes to sleep, early gets up early, while I have a lot of energy. After living with him for only a month I’m losing interest.
Guest Caller Steven from LA shares a success story about online dating and what he’s learned about letting go of anger and resentments. He discusses the benefits of biofeedback in discovering reactivity levels by recognizing changes in body chemistry.
Weekly WOWs (Words of Wisdom) on Friendship:
Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light. (Helen Keller)
Friends are the siblings God never gave us. (Mencius)
A friend is someone who gives you total freedom to be yourself. (Jim Morrison)
A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out. (Walter Winchell)
Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud (Maya Angelou) and you’ll feel like a million bucks!
Confidence Boosters/Esteem Builders:
I appreciate all that I do. I am good enough just as I am. I speak up for myself. I ask for what I want. I claim my power.
I experience love where ever I go. Loving people fill my life, and I find myself easily expressing love to others (Louise Hay)
Featured artist is legendary singer/songwriter/activist Joan Baez performing the title track from her "Diamonds & Rust” album released in 1975. She wrote the thought provoking lyrics about her relationship with Bob Dylan. The tune was a top 40 hit on the US pop singles chart and is regarded as one of Baez's best compositions. Baez just released her first new studio album in ten years, called "Whistle Down The Wind."
Six decades after becoming a regular on the coffee house scene that was emerging around Club 47 in Cambridge, MA., Baez has recently embarked on her Fare Thee Well European and North American tour. She revealed that “2018 will be my last year of formal extended touring.”
With her 2017 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction topping off a lifetime of awards and honors for her recordings and human rights achievements around the globe, the symmetry of Joan’s decision reverberates. “I’m looking forward to being on the road with a beautiful new album about which I am truly proud,” she said. “I welcome the opportunity to share this new music as well as longtime favorites with my audiences around the world.” Catch the one and only Joan Baez at UCLA's Royce Hall on November 10th.

Sleepless in Studio City DrDebzz Dishing on "Demystifying Death" feat. John Beasley & Regina Carter

DrDebzz Opening Shpiel:  Death is as much a taboo subject as sex singledom or divorce. Fear of the unknown keeps us stuck. We can erase the stigma around death by simply learning about and embracing it, as exemplified in the Pixar Disney film “Coco" (Oscar nominated for Best Animated Film), depicting the Day of the Dead honoring traditions.
We’ve been conditioned to think death is the worst thing that happens in life. We do everything we can to delay death at all costs, to prevent the inevitable, e.g. anti aging this or that, drugs, plastic surgery, seeking the fountain of youth.
Acceptance of death is the key to ending your suffering. Death isn’t a tragedy-the ignorance about death is the tragedy. Death is mandatory, however, suffering is optional. Once you understand the process of death you can start to treat it with curiosity compassion and even awe.
Funerals can be celebratory rather than somber. Similarly a divorce can be revered rather than abhored. It’s possible to have a loving relationship in death, albeit a combative connection in life, or a harmonious relationship in divorce albeit a contentious marriage.
Guest Caller Mary Ellen from Washington: A girlfriend doesn't approve of my new boyfriend, refuses to acknowledge him, or be around me when I'm with him. I told her I’m done with our relationship, but wondering if I did the right thing.
Write in question from Jim in Rhode Island: I’m having a long distance relationship with a woman who constantly sends me long texts and emails and doesn’t like talking on the phone. We keep getting into tiffs and I’m considering breaking it off.
Featured Artist is Grammy & Emmy nominated pianist, composer, arranger, John Beasley performing “Crepuscule with Nellie,” from his critically acclaimed CD, MONK'estra Vol. 2 with guest violinist Regina Carter.
The tune is Thelonius Monk’s love letter to his wife. “Crepsecule" is French for “twilight.” Monk got the word from his admirer and protector, the Baroness Pannonica de Koenigswater. It well suits the song’s misty-sunset character.
Virtuoso Regina Carter, considered the foremost jazz violinist of her generation, was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship (a “genius grant”) based upon her work highlighting the often overlooked potential of the jazz violin for its lyric, melodic, and percussive capabilities.
Catch John Beasley LIVE Friday March 9th at Walt Disney Hall conducting MONK+MONK’estra, the World Premiere of a cinematic/concert with rare film footage, a spoken word performance of Monk’s philosophy of life & music, & Grammy award winner singer-songwriter, Dee Dee Bridgewater.
